24.159.1005 STANDARDS RELATED TO THE PRACTICAL NURSE'S RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MEMBER OF THE HEALTH TEAM (1) The practical nurse shall: (a) have knowledge of the statutes and rules governing nursing and function within the legal boundaries of practical nursing practice; (b) accept responsibility for individual nursing actions and competence; (c) function under the supervision of licensed health care providers as per 37-8-102, MCA; (d) consult with and seek guidance from registered nurses and/or other health team members as necessary; (e) function as a member of the health team; (f) contribute to the formulation, interpretation, implementation, and evaluation of the objectives and policies related to practical nursing practice; (g) participate in the evaluation of nursing practices; (h) report unsafe nursing practice to the board and unsafe practice conditions to recognized authorities; (i) report the practice of nursing by unlicensed individuals to the board; (j) conduct practice without discrimination on the basis of age, race, religion, sex, sexual preference, national origin, or handicap; (k) respect the dignity and rights of clients regardless of social or economic status, personal attributes, or nature of health problems; (l) respect the client's right to privacy by protecting confidential information, unless obligated by law to disclose such information; (m) respect the property of clients, family, significant others, and the employer; and (n) follow the written, established policies and procedures of the health care organization that are consistent with this chapter.
