(1) Handrails are required wherever ladders, stairs, or recessed treads are provided.

(2) Handrails must extend from within 18 inches from the bottom vertical face of the last step leading into the pool, spa, or other water feature over the coping to the edge of the deck.

(3) Handrails shall be made of corrosion resistant materials and must be securely attached.

(4) A ladder installed to assist a person exiting a pool must be installed no less than three inches away from the pool wall and no more than five inches away from the pool wall.

(5) The water level of the pool must be maintained at a sufficiently high level during operation that a handrail installed to assist a person exiting a pool on a ladder extends to within 12 inches of the surface of the water when the pool is being used.
