(1) Contestants, including substitutions and exhibition contestants, shall submit to a prefight physical examination by a medical professional as defined in ARM 24.117.301 prior to entering the ring.
(a) The examination may be conducted by the medical professional attending the event.
(b) Only the contestant and the contestant's manager/trainer are allowed in the examination room during the physical.
(c) Eye dilation is not required in the prefight physical examination.
(2) Contestants shall meet the following minimum physical requirements as determined in the prefight examination:
(a) blood pressure no higher than 150/90 (may be controlled by the use of diazide diuretic or low salt program);
(b) temperature below 100 degrees F or 37 degrees C;
(c) distant vision 20/100 each eye - near vision 20/40 by near vision chart;
(d) fundi - no retinopathies or previous detachments (repaired or not);
(e) abdomen - no visceralmegaly;
(f) no hernias, containing abdominal contents on coughing or straining;
(g) normal Rhomberg or finger to nose tests;
(h) no suppurative lesions on skin;
(i) no indications of active renal disease or loss of one kidney;
(j) no perforated ear drum;
(k) no changes in gait, mental status;
(l) no changes in ring performance;
(m) no body deformity that would tend to promote injury; and
(n) no history of epilepsy or seizure disorder.
(3) The department may request the following of any contestant:
(a) electroencephalogram (EEG);
(b) computerized axial tomography (CAT-scan); or
(c) electrocardiogram (EKG).
(4) Weigh-in must be at least eight hours before the bout.
(a) The manager/trainer or an authorized agent must accompany the contestant to weigh-in.
(b) Contestants weighing three percent over the contracted weight at weigh-in, without allowing for dehydration, shall be disqualified.
(c) Contestants exhibiting signs of dehydration as a result of diuretics or drugs shall be disqualified.
(5) No contestant shall take part in an athletic event until pronounced fit to do so by the medical professional. The medical professional must report contestants' physical fitness to the department within 24 hours after the event.
(6) If a contestant is late to weigh-in, the opponent may be weighed in under the direction of the department or department representative. Late contestants and their managers may be subject to disciplinary action by the department.
