(1) To determine the chemical quality of ground water
which will be available from each well and its suitability for intended uses,
the water in all wells should be sampled during or immediately following
construction and development.
(a) The sample shall be clearly marked with the location of the well, the date and time
taken, and the depth of the strata from which the water was taken.
(2) To determine the bacteriological
quality of a water supply, the water in all wells should be sampled after
construction is complete and the system has been disinfected.
(a) The sample shall be collected after
chlorinating solution has been dissipated or been flushed from the system.
(3) The contractor/driller should inform the well owner of the importance of having the
water analyzed and coliform tests performed.
(4) Local health offices and the department of environmental quality can be contacted
for lists of certified labs who can perform these tests.
